You Already Have Something to Sell: How I Turned One Phonics Book Into Multiple Educational Opportunities

I recently created my very first phonics book.

It has been such an exciting experience to hold the physical book in my hands after creating it from an idea into an actual educational resource.

But here's the thing I want other teachers, homeschool parents, curriculum creators, and educators to understand:

The book itself is only one opportunity.

The idea behind the book can become so much more.

One Idea. Multiple Opportunities.

When I created my phonics book, I didn't want to think of it as only one product.

I wanted to think about all the different ways I could use the content to help learners.

The physical book can be sold on Amazon.

The digital version can be sold on Teachers Pay Teachers.

I can offer the resource through my own educational platform, Teach Me Truth.

I can upload it to Classful with my video lessons.

I can teach the concepts in a live or self-paced class.

I can use the material as part of other educational programs and resources.

The point isn't to create the exact same product over and over again.

The point is to ask:

How else can I use this content to help learners?

Maybe you have created:

A science experiment

A recorded lesson
A presentation

You may have spent hours creating educational content that you used once and then left sitting on your computer.

But that resource may be useful to someone else.

One of the biggest mistakes I see educators make is thinking they have to start from scratch every time they want to create a new income opportunity.

You don't necessarily need to create something completely new.

Sometimes, you need to look at what you have already created and think creatively about how you can share it in new ways.

My Phonics Book Is One Example

For my phonics book, I can create several different educational opportunities from the same core content.

The physical book can be purchased by families who want a tangible resource to use at home.

A digital version can be offered to educators and families who prefer printable or digital materials.

This can turn the book into more than just something students read.

It can become part of an interactive learning experience.

The content can also become the foundation for an online class.

Rather than simply selling a book, I can use the concepts to teach students.

This doesn't mean every platform has to have the exact same listing or product.

Different platforms may serve different audiences.

Some families may want a physical book.

Some students may prefer video lessons.

You don't need to create 100 products before getting started.

You can begin with one thing.

For me, that one thing was a phonics book.

Now I can ask:

How can I make this available to more learners?

How can I teach this content?

How can I create additional resources from this idea?

Where can I share it?

Who could benefit from it?

Those questions open up many more possibilities.

Before you decide that you have nothing to sell, take a look at what you have already created.

Open your computer.

Look through your lesson plans.

Find the worksheets you created.

Look at the activities your students loved.

Think about the knowledge you have.

Then ask yourself:

How else could I use this to help learners?

You may already have something valuable.

You may just need to look at it differently.

One book can become a physical product.

A digital resource.

A video lesson.

An online class.

A curriculum component.

A teaching opportunity.

You don't always need to create more.

Sometimes, you need to make more of what you've already created.

You may already have something to sell. Again and Again...
