Things That Kids Can Make and Sell - Part 7: Jewelry

Children can learn personal responsibility, and finance all while cultivating creativity!

Sadly, adults often lose their ability to be creative over time. Children have a keen advantage over other business owners because of their vibrant creativity. Now, let's pair that with a skill such as jewelry-making and they will be unstoppable.

Jewelry is a cool art form because it is also functional. As I have witnessed firsthand, shoppers are more likely to purchase functional art.

Making and selling jewelry isn't just for girls. My son is learning new skills such as polishing rocks that he has turned into jewelry. He also enjoys making bracelets and will be attending classes at our local art studio on how to make glass beads!

Children don't necessarily have to make the beads or anything fancy like that. Some children are more like designers as they choose which pieces go together in aesthetically pleasing ways.

Check out this fun online class "Make a Diagonal Stripe Friendship Bracelet!" In this course, we will learn the forward stitch, and make our own diagonal stripe bracelet! (Ages 8-12)

Another tip to note: You cannot pick your spot at a Young Business Owner's market as it's first come first serve. However, if you don't want to be directly next to another child who also sells jewelry, you can change your place in line to help reduce the competition.

Register your child for one of our Young Business Owner events this year!
